Upcycled Door Project

When one door closes, another one opens.
Or you can just open the closed door... that's how doors tend to work.

Or is it?

Here's a roundup of some clever upcycling ideas which use old doors.

How about reworking an old door into a coffee table?

Or turning a screen door into a chalkboard with a vintage look.

Make use of old kitchen cabinet doors by building a hinged art desk for kids.

Taking it outdoors - try this simple idea and create a snug little shelter.

If you're sick and tired of all those 'Billy Bookcases' from Ikea - this unique bookshelf just might be the cure.

Create a piece of furniture that becomes a focal point for the whole room.

Storage is a ongoing argument in our house - could this be the solution?

An old door turned into a custom headboard is a fantastic way to add character to a room.

Take advantage of the (supposed) great Summer we are going to have and have a few outdoor dinners.

Kitchen storage solution. Remember those slated doors we all had for our built-in wardrobes?

And these slated doors are perfect for a hallway organizer.

This last one is less about upcycling old doors and more about revealing whats behind those closed doors.

If any of these ideas appeal to you and but it's a case of "Oh shucks ...I just don’t have any old doors lying around" (like so many of us), fear not, you can always try The Freecycle NetworkFree Trade Ireland, or one of the many salvage yards that might be in your city. You can also try, as I've pointed out before, a little bit of skiphunting.

With the growing number of skips taking up residence outside houses undergoing refurbishment - it's the perfect opportunity to grab a few discarded doors.

And we all know what they say about doors and opportunity!

  1. I’d recommend using Dr. Utu Herbal Cure topically for instant pain and itch relief as well as accelerated healing of lesions and permanently stopping oral and genital herpes virus outbreaks. I have tried just about everything from acyclovir suppressive therapy to different natural oils, extracts, and other natural methods, some of which are EXTREMELY painful and exacerbate the problem (i.e. apple cider vinegar!). While vitamin E oil and suppressive therapy worked well, when I became pregnant I went back to trying to find a herbal cure. I was using vitamin E oil topically for a while but it was thin and difficult to use and only looked like to prevent further outbreaks rather than getting rid of it. I contacted Dr. Utu Herbal Cure through my friend. To my surprise, I could tell my outbreak was starting to heal within only a few hours! No more itching and pain! Dr. Utu Herbal Cure that I used was liquid herbs in bottles, so it was very easy to use. It simply whiffs, but it works so I don’t care! The best part of my testimony was that I successfully delivered a herpes-free beautiful daughter without further medications. Anyone who has tried Dr. Utu Herbal Cure knows just how quickly those treatments can add up. So give it a try! Anyone can reach Dr. Utu through
